Hi folks. Greetings from the H.L.D.I team, we once again bring you the latest updates on activities that transpired during this month of April. As it was already clearly highlighted in our earlier posts, we had two workshops take place as follows:

Soroti student leaders workshop (hosted by Teso College Aloet):
On 5th of  April, we had a total of 155 student leaders locally known as prefects converge for a one day workshop in Soroti. The student were from 6 local schools that include; Teso College Aloet, Halcyon High school, Soroti municipal Secondary School, Olila High school, Light S.S and St. Mary’s Girls school                  .
The theme of the conference was “Being the best student leaders we should be”.

Earlier that day, Mr. Alfred Elalu Edakasi gave a lecture on the 7 Habits of highly Effective people, a book written by Stephen Covey.  The student leaders later in the day appreciated Cornerstone Development for thinking about people of their category (student leaders) and initiate a project geared toward improving their morality, character and build their capacities as student leaders.

The patrons( teachers from participating schools) were all grateful to Cornerstone for the same, the couldn’t hide their heartfelt appreciation to Cornerstone for its efforts to create change agents of Uganda’s future.

Later on that day, our guest speaker was Honorable Janet Rose Agayo, a former women councilor for Soroti District. She gave a speech on the topic “Challenges facing youth leadership today in Uganda and how to minimize them”. She challenge the youth oh how to be unique and change agents of the nation and start looking at themselves as leaders of today, not leaders for tomorrow as proclaimed by some current leaders.
